Dr. Sonvir Singh Represents Kenya's Rajasthani Diaspora at Pravasi Rajasthani Samwad with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma

Dr. Sonvir Singh, Managing Director of Shri Krishana Overseas PLC and President of the Rajasthan Foundation, Nairobi Chapter, represented Kenya’s Rajasthani diaspora at the Pravasi Rajasthani Samwad, a virtual dialogue chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, on 16 October 2026.
The dialogue brought together the national and international chapter presidents of the Rajasthan Foundation ahead of Pravasi Rajasthani Divas, which will be held in Jaipur on 10 December, with related programmes planned for 8 and 9 December. The Chief Minister invited every chapter to take part in the celebrations. Dainik Jalte Deep, a Hindi daily from Jodhpur, covered the dialogue in a full-page feature on 21 October.
A Moment of Pride and Honour
Sharing his reflections after the dialogue, Dr. Singh said:
“It was a great honour to participate in Pravasi Rajasthani Samwad under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma Ji and interact with him directly. As President of Rajasthan Foundation, Nairobi Chapter, Kenya, I am proud to represent our Rajasthani diaspora and strengthen the bond between Rajasthan and Kenya.”
He thanked the Government of Rajasthan and the Rajasthan Foundation for “this valuable platform to connect, collaborate and contribute to Rajasthan’s development,” adding: “Together, let us preserve our rich heritage and build a prosperous Rajasthan. Jai Rajasthan! Jai Hind!”
Bringing Kenya’s Rajasthanis Together
With the aim of strengthening the diaspora’s ties with the culture, traditions and land of Rajasthan, the Nairobi Chapter has stepped up efforts to send a large delegation from Kenya to Pravasi Rajasthani Divas. Under Dr. Singh’s leadership, the chapter is reaching out to community members, industrialists, traders, entrepreneurs, professionals, young people, women representatives and social organisations across Kenya.
Dr. Singh described the chance to speak directly with the Chief Minister as a matter of pride, and praised the Government of Rajasthan and the Rajasthan Foundation for their initiative to connect the diaspora with their homeland. Dialogues like this, he said, encourage Rajasthanis living abroad to take an active part in the state’s development.
“Pravasi Rajasthani Divas is not just an event. It is an important opportunity to connect with our roots, culture and heritage, and to contribute to the future of Rajasthan,” he said. The chapter’s goal is for a strong, representative delegation from Kenya to travel to Jaipur and make the diaspora’s role in the state’s progress even more effective.
New Avenues for Rajasthan-Kenya Cooperation
Dr. Singh noted that people of Rajasthani origin in Kenya form a strong community contributing to trade, industry, entrepreneurship, social service and community development. Pravasi Rajasthani Divas will give this community a platform to strengthen its cultural ties with Rajasthan and explore new economic and business opportunities.
Through the event, the Nairobi Chapter hopes to promote cooperation between Rajasthan and Kenya in:
- Trade and investment
- Industry and manufacturing
- Tourism
- Cultural exchange
- Social cooperation
He expressed confidence that Rajasthanis settled around the world can play a meaningful role in the state’s economic and social progress through their experience, entrepreneurial spirit and international networks.
Preserving Heritage for the Next Generation
Dr. Singh said the Nairobi Chapter is committed to preserving and promoting Rajasthan’s language, folk traditions, customs and social values abroad. Connecting the new generation, born and raised outside India, with their cultural heritage is essential so that their sense of belonging to Rajasthan and their bond with their roots remain unbroken.
“Rajasthan is the birthplace and the foundation of the cultural identity of the Pravasi Rajasthani community,” he said. The chapter’s resolve is to unite Rajasthanis living in Kenya, increase their participation in the development of their homeland, and take the relationship between Rajasthan and its global diaspora to new heights.
